If you are out of state and have had your eye on the Oklahoma City metro, I got you. I relocated to Edmond, just north of Oklahoma City in 2007 from Sacramento, California. I often get asked if it was a culture shock. It wasn’t really, except for fewer people, a more conservative political atmosphere, and loosing my beloved mountains and beaches so close by. This city has grown so much and has a lot to offer those searching for a new place to call home. I love introducing newcomers to our amazing city. After all, a home is more than the house you live in, it is the community and the people you do life with. I love being a resource for others whether that is discovering neighborhoods/districts, local businesses, date night ideas, or family fun.

The first step in this process is a meeting over zoom or the phone. I want to know your goals for your move. Do you want to purchase right away or rent for a while to get a better feel of the city and it's different neighborhoods? If you're wanting to purchase near term I can connect you with a local lender to get pre-approved.
Whether you decide to rent or purchase I will set you up on a personalized search. If you plan to travel into town we can work towards down selecting homes and will set aside a day to tour your top choices. If you cannot get out here, I can be your eyes, ears and feet and can do virtual tours until we find the right home.
If you are purchasing, once your offer is accepted the investigation phase begins! The first step during this phase is wiring your deposit (earnest money). This is your opportunity to make sure the home is the right investment for you. If you cannot be present, I will be present at all of your inspections for you. You will hire a licensed home inspector and termite Inspector, research the neighborhood, schools, etc. Once you have your findings we will negotiate repairs or compensation. Your lender will order and complete an appraisal.
The closing phase is the last phase of the process. During this phase you will make sure you acquire a homeowner insurance policy, finalize your loan (if applicable), set up utilities to turn on for the date of occupancy, complete a final walk through, and sign your life away at the closing table!

The cost of living in Oklahoma is generally lower than the national average in the United States. Housing costs, in particular, tend to be more affordable compared to many other states. Our utilities (electricity, heating, cooling, and water) are also typically lower. For transportation, gasoline prices are reasonable (you wont be paying what the west and east coasts are!) as well as car insurance. Our grocery prices are in line with the national average and healthcare is moderate compared to other states. State income taxes are also relatively low.

Before you leave your current address, make sure you update your address with USPS and forward any mail to the new address so you don’t miss anything important.
In Oklahoma you can transfer your Driver License from another state without having to take a written or drive test if your driving record meets the standards set by Service Oklahoma and your license is valid and you are not changing vehicle types OR your license is expired (within the last 6 months). When you apply for your Oklahoma Drivers License you may also register to vote and update your organ donation status.
For your vehicle you will need to update your car insurance policy to align with Oklahoma’s minimum requirements prior to applying for a title & registration transfer. To transfer your vehicle after moving to Oklahoma, you will need to bring the following documents to a Service Oklahoma or Licensed Operator location: out of state title, valid drivers license, vehicle being transferred, 701-6 Form (Application for Title), and proof of Oklahoma insurance.
I get it, I was a west coast girl and the thought of living in Tornado Alley, well…it wasn’t my favorite. I’ve now lived here for over 15 years and I can tell you I have only one scare and that was while living on campus in the dorms (my first year here). If I had been living in my own home, it might not have been as “traumatic”. When you take 50+ college girls and tell them they have to run to the storm shelter under the library while tornado sirens are going off and we’re in the midst of crazy wind and rain, it makes for a pretty decent core memory. To this day I have no clue if the tornado was even close.
Tornadoes absolutely do happen, though in my experience they are often more prominent in rural areas. My personal property has never been impacted by a tornado. Every 10 years or so there seems to be one that whips through a major populated area (Moore 2003, Moore 2013, Shawnee 2023). Today, I watch the news during severe weather because I find it entertaining, not because I am scared. Weather you will experience here throughout the year? Wind, Humidity, amazing lightning storms, and cold winters with minimal snow. We are a 4 season state, granted our temperate seasons (spring and fall) sometimes don’t feel long enough.
